Re: WIP- Castrol Toyota Tom's Supra GT

Excellent work DJ
I like the cigarette paper heat shield. I will have to use that idea on another build. You did a great job on the wheels. The decals for this kit are very tricky. I found that trimming all the extra carrier film really helped. Take your time and don't rush. Using Micro-Sol decal solvent, regular and strong helped a lot. I just finished mine a few months ago. Since this is a curb side model, if I were to do it again I would have put more detail in the cockpit like wires cables radios etc. Here is the link to my progress photos. Enjoy your build. I sure did. http://s148.photobucket.com/albums/s...Ott/Toyota_GT/

Re: WIP- Castrol Toyota Tom's Supra GT

Hi

Looking great. This car has very agressive looks. I like it a lot.

The rollcage looks much better now than your first attempt. A definate improvement. Although I think the padding is still a bit thick.
Be sure to test fit with the windows, because I suspect that the padding to the right (front) in the second-to-last picture, might give you some fitment problems...
For you I hope I'm not, but I'd check it if I were you.

Re: WIP- Castrol Toyota Tom's Supra GT

The paint looks fantastic! White is hard to get right.

You're a rebel though; polishing only ONE DAY after painting?!?

Did you use a dehydrator, or air dry? I'm contemplating polishing a body that I just painted yesterday. You're results make me think it can be done. I don't have a dehydrator, though....

Keep up the great work!

Re: WIP- Castrol Toyota Tom's Supra GT

I think the concern is that if you polish it before the paint is completely cured and stable, then some roughness or even orange peel may come out in the surface. Please let us know how it looks after another week. It will be interesting to see if it hold all of that shine. Here's hoping!!

Re: WIP- Castrol Toyota Tom's Supra GT

Never get tires of seeing one of these built, as it is one of my favorite supra. Ever since i started playing the gran turismo genre. The outside pics are great. Nice job on the decals and paint. One thing you can add is some light grey panel lines, but becareful around decals. Sometimes the paint wants to run underneath the decal in areas where it isn't fully conformed to the surface. Can you post some finished pics of your other work in the completed section?
