ign. sys. fuzlink blowing '93 dakota 3.9
My 93 3.9 2wd is blowing the ignition system fusible link underhood. A friend re spliced and taped the red wire out of the + batt term., and it started 3X B4 the fuse went again. Batt term pretty rough. Could my ign. sw. be the problem? or more likely the starter? I got the truck w/69K mi., now @ 146K. It's my baby! Help me save it! Thanx in advance, guys.

I'll answer you, azkitch! Check your ingition switch. Maybe you can find a schemo for it, and ohm out the connections.
Hey, I'm getting some sketchy readings w/switch in the "on" position...I wonder... |

Re: ign. sys. fuzlink blowing '93 dakota 3.9
'Twas my ignition switch assembly. Dodge dealer 1.5 miles away had the part for under a hundred...I don't even remember how much...$80? Now occasionally the truck won't start until ya dump about 1/4-1/2 oz of fuel into the TB. WTF??
Hope ya got yer truck running again, too... |

Pickup a haynes manual the ignition switch is on the column just below where it bolts on the column. Look on ebay for a picture so you know what it looks like. You can buy these at a parts store.Check for hot terminals, corroded or loose. Check for bad wires where it is burning. If you spilled any anti freeze check in these areas as it is an insulator. If replacing make sure it is on the same marks as they have some some adjustment.
