1999 Jeep cherokee air conditioning stops working

Hi All: Our 1999 Jeep cherokee is acting up again. When you turn the air conditioning on, first the belts squeal, then onces the motors running abit, it stops the squealing. <<<What could be causing that? Second problem accuring now is when your going down the road, the air conditioner is working great, then all of asudden, the blower keeps working, but no cool air conditioned air comes out, then when we turn down the blower to (1), it usually starts blowing cold air conditioned air out again, The blower never quits working, just the cold air conditioned air stop blowing out. We still get air flow, just not cold<<Hope that makes since. Any help would be very appreciated

Sounds like:

1. You need a new serpentine belt, or at least have it adjusted
2. You need a refrigerant check and maybe a top up
3. You might have a r134a leak of some kind that need to be detected
4. There is a DC supersession on high side pressure switch to prevent icing up

So, when the cold air stops, air still blows out of the center vent? Just asking to verify what you already have mentioned.

AlohaBra--yes is the answer to your question. When the cold air stops blowing the air does keep blowing out of the center vents.
