98 splash guards

I just bought a 98 ZX2 to compliment my growing herd of LX wagons. The clutch was replaced by the previous owner, and all the splash guards were left off and the shop has no idea where they are. Will it hurt the car to run with out them? Also, will a set of guards from other 98 Escorts fit? The ones on my 95 look just a bit different. Also, between 60 and 70 mph, there is a "wind" noise when I let off on the gas. There does not seem to be any vibration associated with the noise. Could the lack of splash guards alter the air flow enough to cause a noise.

Re: 98 splash guards

Better get some splash guards off of another ZX2. Without them moisture will get into body panels and short out wiring. Get some at the boneyard. Yes, you will hear the flow of air without splash guards. If it rains much where you live it will definately start causing problems.

Re: 98 splash guards

Thanks for the info. I will call around Monday and see if I can find a set. The nearest junkyard is about 90 miles south of here.

It is not unheard of to have someone at a far away junk yard retrieve the parts you need and have them ship the parts to you... so long as you don't mind paying them to do it. Make use of the Internet... lots of salvage yards advertise their inventories online.
