I've got some strange issues with my power sliding door. My van only has the passenger side automatic sliding door.
With the door open, and I start the motor, the door will not shut automatically. I have to shut it manually and then the "power" feature will operate. Similarly, when I start the motor while the door is shutting (or opening) automatically, it will stop and no longer function. I have to close it manually in order to get it to work again. In the past the door would simply pause, while the motor is starting, and then continue closing after the electrical system is back up. The door operates just fine with the motor off or when it is running, just when you start the motor while the door is in the prcoess of opening or when it is fully open.

Re: 99 Power Sliding Door
I would start by trying the reset feature described in your manual where you have to pull the fuse and reinstall and cycle the door 5 times, etc and see if that does the trick.

Re: 99 Power Sliding Door
Did the reset process in my manual - no change. When I start the car with the door open it stops working.

Re: 99 Power Sliding Door
I believe that there is at least one other reset process for the power door if you search in the Venture forum. After that, try lightly taking some sandpaper to the both the contact plate and the 5-6 springy round prongs as that could be part of the problem. I would also make sure that your van has had the 1-2 recalls performed that were related to the adjusting the closing mechanism of the power door and another that I cannot think of.

Re: 99 Power Sliding Door
I tried the "diagnostic mode/reset" process where you hold the open button and cycle the lock-out switch 10 times. I got no beeping sounds at all but the door is working now. However, I have also been messing with the electrical system under the passenger floor carpet trying to repair the circuit for the drivers door un-lock. The floor board got wet and the wires had corroded. I repaired three junctions under the carpet (one of which I know was the door un-lock circuit). Maybe in drying the wires I inadvertantly helped the PSD?

Re: 99 Power Sliding Door
Wow, I never thought of trying the wiring below the carpet as the cause of my PSD not working for the past 4 yrs where I am ready to replace the module in it with an aftermarket one for $50. I will check the wiring under the carpet first. Thanks.

Re: 99 Power Sliding Door
electrical contact cleaner from Radio Shack might be a better alternative than sand paper. I say this only because the contacts are plated to prevent corrosion, if you sand off the plating they will corrode and you will have electrical contact problems.

Re: 99 Power Sliding Door
I believe that was one of them. My 97 had one for the closing mechanism adjustment or something like that.

Re: 99 Power Sliding Door
after you wipe some electrical cleaner on contacts on the door and door frame put a small amount of diealectric creme[ parts house has small tubes of this] on the ends of door contacts and door frame contacts it keeps the green off of them.
