Good Morning,
I just spent 1200 bucks to have a new ac systam installed in my 97 GTP with 177K miles. BUT the issue is all of the 'Wind" comes out of the bottom vent and the defroster. The "mode" button has stopped working. I think I can hear it click when I push the button BUT no change in distrubution pattern. The AC guy said the vacumn hoses were all connected. I LOVE the GTP ... so far the only person to out run me was a 2007 JAG. Please help me as I work in a high end office and after driving 45 miles to get to work with the windows down I look like a bale of hay.Thank you |

Re: 97 GTP air vent question
Welcome to AF.
It still sounds like the HVAC/accessory vacuum line is leaking or disconnected. Double check the plastic vacuum line from the fitting on the top of the supercharger along the firewall and where it loops over to the battery and main fuse box. The line then feeds into the main wiring harness to the passenger side of the cabin to a vacuum distribution assembly for the vent actuators.

Thanks for the reply...
After I trace the vacumn line around the battery to the fire wall can I access the harness and such from under the hood or does the dash need to come off ...(god forbid) also do I need to buy a book or something cause really and truly I do not know what I'm looking at and have NO DOE after the 1200$ ac job. Thank you |

![]() Yeah, makes you wonder what work was done to include parts to justify that cost. Hopefully the problem is in the engine compartment area. Pay special attention and check the vacuum line coupler by the battery and fuse box. If it is in the cabin then the vacuum line can be seen and accessed once the passenger side kick panel is removed located under the dash. The lines will be next to the blower motor assembly as seen in the pic below. ![]()
