96 silverado fuel pump
I have a 96 silverado 1500 5.7 motor. The fuel pump had been buzzing for awhile and the other day the rig just quit. No more buzzing when i turn on the key and it won't fire when i turn it over.
Several questions: I heard to only use oem pumps, does that means i'll have to order from the dealership? Should I empty the gas tank before doing this and do i have to remove the tank, never done it before. Also, are there any other parts that i should replace if i take the tank out. Any advice you would have here would be appreciated. Re: 96 silverado fuel pump
Use OEM, yes the tank must come out, so get as much fuel out as possible, new inline filter and sock on the pump, careful here, use a brass drift to get the retainer off the module, also check for a melted connector at the pump harness, not an easy job, here.
