manifolds r cracked
hey guys i have a 1987 toyota camry and i've been having some problems the last few months. its a v4 automatic, 115,ooo miles on it. heres whats wrong all 4 of my intank manifolds r cracked atleast i think thats what they r called any way som times my car will turn on and sometimes it wont. when it does turn on i cant move my car in any gear but the rpm metor goes up as high as i want it 2 go, and sometimes the car will shut off after 5-10 minutes. but all the power stuff still is on. i got new head gaskets, power steering pump, fuel pump, belts, anything els that u would need at a 115,000 miles. there r more things i got replaced on it but 2many things 2 list. can any of u help me find the intank part i need couse i cant seem 2 find it 4 my car online, its the 4 pipes that go into the transsmission like i said all of them r cracked and from 2 of them there is stuff leaking from them help me out here. oh and i have a 10" pioneer sub 600 watt, 600 watt sony xplod, and a 50x4 duel mp3 player 4 some reason it will shut off 3 min after i start driving but if i turn it off when i park sit 4 a few minutes and turn it back on it works, but when i'm not moving at all it works perfect no matter what sry 4 the llong note.
oh and if u do find the part i'm talking about please send me the site and tell me how much u think it will cost 2 replace it thx

Re: manifolds r cracked
Let me take a stab at this...
Do the 4 pipes connect the transmission to the front wheels? If not, what is on the other end of the pipes? Can you push the car by hand or with a friend when the transmission is in neutral? or is the car stuck and no way will it move? Can the car move backward when the transmission is in reverse gear? Do you have enough oil in the transmission? How do you know? Does the engine and the mp3 player shut off at the same time or are they two different problems? When the mp3 player shuts off, and you turn the headlights on, are the headlights real dim? or are they bright? How old is your battery? When was the last time you drove the car? Tell me everything you did to it after you last drove it.

And, I don't mean to offend, but it is really hard to figure out what you are trying to say. Can you please take the time to be a little more clear in your writing. You know, like using periods, and typing out the word "to"... |

Re: manifolds r cracked
I agree. Flush the transmission to get out all the engine oil. Draining the pan will not get it all out. Most of the fluid will remain in the valve body and the torque converter. I don't know how much engine oil you can leave in the transmission and still have a reliable car, but it's not much.

Re: manifolds r cracked
Also, you won't find intake runners or plenum or whatever in an auto parts store. Get one from a salvage yard - they don't normally wear out.
