I also can fire it on ether which eliminates any sensor being bad and if that doesnt it doesnt throw any codes

Are you keeping the fuel pressure guage hooked up while cranking, and does it hold at 41-47 psi? Pull a plug and see if they are getting wet with fuel. If not, then you definitely have injector issues.

Re: 91 prix still wont start and no one knows

u stated nothing about having spark. is the ignition system up to snuff?

you need fuel, compression, and ignition. that is all. do you have a large vacuum leak?

Re: 91 prix still wont start and no one knows

maybe we should list what kind of motor that is in it so maybe the rest of us will know how to help you. I would start with the basics here especially since some of the older grand prix's came with a 3.4 DOHC, not saying yours is, but have you actually done a compression test on it to make sure you have adequate compression and that a camshaft hasn't skipped?

Next step would be to jumper the ALDL terminals and check the flash codes to see if you get anything other than 12. If 12 is not present then something may be wrong with the new ecm. It is not uncommon to get a faulty one straigt from the parts place.

Talking Re: 91 prix still wont start and no one knows

it does have the 3.4 but lets make this clear it still starts i could understand tha compression being a problem and all that fun bullshit but it will start and run for anywhere from 10 seconds to 10 minutes without a problem on ether. it runs perfect not a miss skip or anything but it wont stay running long and it isnt giving any codes at all but since everyone on here is just trying to help i will go out and try tha codes things and all that bullshit one more time

Re: 91 prix still wont start and no one knows

ok, here's the thing with you running it on ether. ether is a little more flammable than regular gasoline, and may make it run just fine.

Im still not convinced. Im not sure how this motor is set up, but lets say that a camshaft has skipped (for sake of arguement the one that the cam sensor is reading off of) the cam sensor tells the ecm proper time to pulse injectors and proper spark time off of the cam and crank signals. Is it possable that a camshaft skipped a single cog and now it wont run on its own due to not having proper injector pulse timing? (ie, intake valve closes, injector pulses, charge sits in intake.) where as if you have it running off of ether, opviously you dont have to worry about injector pulse timing, and since a single camshaft is only off one cog, the car starts and runs perfectly fine.

Your going to be pissed when i say this, but man, you guys are getting frustrated over this car and none of you can tell me that you have done a valid compression test other than "compression has to be good because it runs on ether". Man, its the 3.4DOHC (With a timing BELT), pull those darn plugs out, borrow a compression tester for free from autozone, and do a VALID compression test. Then compare the specs from one bank to the other.

After you have done this and posted your results then i may be able to offer you some more advice.

Re: 91 prix still wont start and no one knows

the 3100sfi and 3.4 DOHC are completly different. I'd start with the basics here, first compression check. If its ok, then check fuel pressure and for spark and injector pulses. If and once you have checked all of these, i could suspect that maybe its an ecm problem. If you decide to switch it out, make sure you swap the eeprom chip out of the one you have into the new one.
