97 GS-T Studders/hesitates While Boosting

Hi
My car has been doing this since I bought it it last month, It only studders for the first couple seconds when I first punch the gas and then it evens out and boosts fine. Does anyone know what might cause this? It seems like it always happens when I need the power most, very annoying. My car is pretty much stock besides greddy rs bov, dejon ic piping and an Injen intake. Any help is greatly apprieciated. Thanks in advance

Did you change the piping yourself ? If so , I'd go back and check for boost leaks. A common problem which is easily misdiagnosed anywho , good luck.

Is ur CEL on ? I experienced a similar problem and it turned out to be my MAF sensor.

Re: 97 GS-T Studders/hesitates While Boosting

Yes I did change the piping myself but the car was doing it before I changed it, could it be a leak somewhere else? how can I test? My check engine light IS on, and when I read the codes it said something about an idle problem. I switched out the ISC and that still hasnt fixed it, Is there anyway for me to test my MAF? That does seem like it could be the problem. Thanks

Yes, check the maf sensor and see if any of the honey combs have been removed from it. Also make sure you are using the right spark plugs, NGK BPR7ES gapped at 28-32.

Re: 97 GS-T Studders/hesitates While Boosting

Thanks!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I Bought The Copper Ngk Plugs And Now The Car Drives Perfect. Its Hard To Believe That Just Running Platinum Plugs Would Cause My Car To Run So Bad. And Another Thing...now Im Getting About 40 More Miles From The Same Tank Of Gas.

Thanks Again

Re: 97 GS-T Studders/hesitates While Boosting

No problem bro, good to here your problem is fixed. Several people have made that mistake of putting in fancy spark plugs, when our DSMs being such simple minded beasts only require plain old copper plugs.

oh and to get rid of your check engine light its probably your BISS screw locater on the intake manifold. Is your idle high and does it kinda go up and down especially when the car is cold? If so just a couple of turns tighter on the screw and you should be good to go.
