Window Problem

Hey guy, my sister has a '97 Eclipse GS and the window is broken. It moves up and down but won't close properly--there are gaps even when closed. I tried to get to the window this morning to fix it by taking off the door panels but once the panels were off, I still don't have access to the window system. Any one know how to access the window system and how to fix it!?! Please let me know...thanks in advance.

Re: Window Problem

Im not really sure what you mean. The window rolls up but not all the way and still has a gap? If you take the door panel off you have to roll the window down to access the track. Maybe try geasing it or the window regulator could be messed up i guess.

Re: Window Problem

Well, does anyone have a picture of the window regulator system and how to take it off to access the underside of it? I took off the door panel on both sides of the car and noticed that on the broken side, there's some type of bolt that holds the window in place with the plastic stuff that's missing. Any ideas!?!

That was the best I could find. You might want to replace those plastic pieces also. That could be your whole problem.

Re: Window Problem

I had that problem with my women's 95 Talon. It was a small white guide wheel with a bolt that ran through the middle of it. It's located at the outer end of the door inside a track that runs up and down. This was a roll up model. I'm not sure about electric ones.

Re: Window Problem

Once you get the door panel off you will be able to see all of the bolts that go into the regulator and the window. Make sure the windo is down when you work on it.

Re: Window Problem

Okay, I'm almost certain that it's the window regulator now that I've taken a better look. I found the little mounts and so forth for the regulator and I put everything back together. However, I believe the problem has to do with one of the bars that guides the motion of the window.

Go here: http://www.autopartswarehouse.com/pr...ndow_regulator

Notice the " X " bars of the regulator? Well, one of those bars are twisted badly and the window will not go up properly. It goes up but the path that it follows is a bit off which makes the window not close all the way--hence leaving small gaps around the would-be sealed window.

So my question....does anyone know how to take off window regulator? But more importantly, does anyone know how to put it back on? Because the room for maneuvering within the confines of that door is so small that I don't see how we can tighten up the bolts again once we remove them to take off the window.

Please help...

Re: Window Problem

It should unbolt from the door and the window when you take the door panel off, then just pull the whole assembly out.
