Question 1997 sierra loss of power

My fuel pump died on my 97 GMC 1500 5.7 ltr. 4x4 ex. cab. I replacd the fuel pump in my truck as th eold one died. Since i replaced the pump i have a big loss of power. I have checked to make sure all is tight no leaks nowhere. it runs smooth. But when i punch it it hesitates then revs up but no power. This truck before the change when you punched it you new it and you where gone. Any ideas anyone

Welcome to the forum. Did you replace the fuel filter when you replaced the pump? When was the last time that you did a tune up on the truck? Are there any codes active? What is the fuel pressure now?

Yes Changed the filter. Tune 2 months ago. Do not know how to check for service codes. Not sure on checking fuel pressure i would imagine i could buy a gage. What is the proper pressure

Re: 1997 sierra loss of power

did you replace the entire fuel pump module or just the fuel pump itself?
