I really, really don't understand the legitimacy of these type of "international" lawsuits and rulings. It seems so much a part of our American culture now, to want to squeeze money out of anything and everything we can possibly get our hands on.
Granted, this act of terrorism was heinous ineed, and I understand the age-old concept of blood money, but I wonder, on a
moral level, how much this bombing really differs from US support of repressive regimes and dictators, the Iraq war, and other selfish and manipulative international policies played by much of the West in recent history. I'm certainly not justifying violent terror tactics used by the likes of Al-Qaeda, or the political terrorism and power-play endorsed by the USA, but it just makes me wonder how, if such rulings are taken seriously, how untold international feuds from ages ago can resurface at attempts for consolation and new closure.
Has any "international" lawsuit like this ever actually been taken seriously? (not counting Milosovich-style "world" courts)
