1995 bonneville oil pressure problems

in despret need of help 1995 pontiac bonneville 160k

replaced upper and lower intake gaskets after i put toghter found was leaking from timeingchain cover replaced gasket

which was leaking coolant upon reasambleing no oil pressure at all...... car had 40 at

idle until this project took place ......took apart many times packing oil pump with vaseoline

with no sucess what am i doing wrong please help


by the way this is a SE model checked all ports i dont see oil pump craping out from changeing gasket

BTW if i have high idle will pressure up until i let idle again confused



tx there is not any pressure iam gonna replace oil pump amd pressure reg keep ya informed




ok new pump had great pressure till enginge warmed up then gone WTF!!!!! please help junk yard is near

you need to check it with a gauge from an oil port, not your instrument panel, and make sure you have pressure before you lose your engine.

I take from reading this your uim/lim failed? How long did the antifreeze sit in the oil pan? Sounds like the main bearings are going bad. Most likely do the the intake failure.

Do like ru1313 said and check the pressure with a mechanical gauge and verify the pressure when hot. How low does the gauge read when hot? Replacing your t-stat to a 160deg and changing to a heaver weight oil may help keep your oil pressure up a little higher. It's not a fix but it may buy you some more time out of it.

ok great i been foolin around with it now gave up must be main bearing is it worth rebuilding or do i look for a used engine

looking possibly for a engine in northern michigan at right price tx for all ur help
