1988 Sierra

I have a 1988 Sierra pick-up with an 8 cylinder 5.7L motor. White smoke comes from the exhaust when I accelerate. What's with the white smoke? Does it need a carburator adjustment, valve adjustment???

Re: 1988 Sierra

White usually means water/coolant is being burned in the cylinders. That could be intake manifold gasket, head gasket or a cracked head/block.

Are you sure it is not blueish white? Which would be burning oil. Which would be rings or valve guides/seals.
