Help!!
I'm having a very weird problem with my 93 jeep grand cherokee. When my serpentine belt sqeals the battery power drops. When the sqealing stops the battery power goes back to normal. Any ideas on what would cause this would be very helpful.

Re: Help!!
Sounds like the belt may be older and nearing replacement time. The squealing noise you're hearing is the belt slipping. When it does, its not transferring the full power of the system and your alternator, as well as most of the other accessories, takes a hit on how well they are working. Is there any particular time or circumstance the belt sqeals?

Re: Help!!
Next you'll be wantin to know how to take it off so.....
You loosen the tension by turning the bolt underneath your power steering reservoir. There's a locknut on the bottom front of the bracket and then turning that bolt moves the power steering pump and loosens the tension on the belt. You might try tightening it up a little first but if that belt is old it may be ready to break so I'd have a new one ready.
