I have 67 Chevelle and I need to fix the windshield wipers mechanism. How do I remove the arms so I can lift out the cowl?

There is a clip that holds the arms to the splined shafts that needs to be pulled out. I usually use a pair of needle nose pliers, just pull them back a little and the wiper arms pull stratght up and off.
