How To Replace Upper Transmission Cooler Line?
1993 buick regal custom 3.8
![]() I have a hole in one of my rubber cooler lines, my tranny fluid was sprayin out of the tiny hole. i temporarily fixed the problem by using duck tape/ krazy glue. i have now come to the point where it needs to get replaced because the patch no longer holds. ive looked at the line and can not figure out how to disconnect both sides. one has a clamp and the other is different kind of fitting. The Red Square is the piece that i dont understand how to remove [Not Actual Pic}

Re: How To Replace Upper Transmission Cooler Line?
First of all go clear back to where the line attaches to the transmission and you should find a fitting that screws into the transmission. You will need to remove the line here and at the cooler in the radiator. This particular clamp, you are showing, is designed only to hold the hose to the metal line and was not intended to be removed. The entire line comes as an assembly and you should be able to find the line at a dealer or a parts store.

Re: How To Replace Upper Transmission Cooler Line?
You can buy what they call a 3/8 brass hose mender and two hose clamps. Cut the hose at the leak area and install. This only works on the rubber part.
