Re: The Ultimate Nova ???
I HAD the ultimate Nova years ago. It was a '66 SS (a real one) with a de-stroked 327 (down to a 301), fueli heads, Weiand manifold, Holley carb, Hedman headers, electric fuel pump, 4-speed Saginaw with something like a 2.64 1st gear, Hays clutch, Mr.Gasket shifter. I forget what the cam grind was, but it was a solid cam with a nice sound to it.
Up front I had 90/10 drag shocks, 6-cylinder springs, rebuilt front end. The rear was from a Cougar that was narrowed a tad with a 4:11 Detroit Locker. It had the spring perches moved inboard so I could run M&H street slicks. The body color was a nutmeg brown, black interior with Camaro buckets. Needless to say it fast, just one of the many cars I wish I had back. Bob |

Re: The Ultimate Nova ???
Just curious Bob... why did you de-stroke the engine?
I always thought the goal was to up the cubes, not lessen them... Scott |

Re: The Ultimate Nova ???
The idea of destroking the engine was popular at the time, it was done after the thinking of the Camaro Z28 302 and it would rev higher more quickly. Personally I didn't notice a difference but everyone thought that I knew what I was doing by having the only 301 cube small block around.

The Ultimate Nova ???
The blue '66 Nova SS I used to own with the L-79 Package. The real deal. 327ci., 4-speed, 12 bolt posi, bucket seats and console. It had the radio option too I sold it in 1981 for $750.00 If I had only known

Re: The Ultimate Nova ???
A '73 with an LM1 350 and a TH350 would be cool to have. I've also thought about building a '76 with a built-up 305 and TH700R4, with a center console shift and bucket seats. 2-dr hatchback, of course.

Re: The Ultimate Nova ???
I think that the ultimate nova would be a 1971 with a hopped up 327 race motor and a four speed. Along with that it would have a jet black paint job and somwhere around 3:7's in the rearend. It would also have to have a black vynil roof.

Re: The Ultimate Nova ???
It's time to put this poll/thread to rest. It has been brought back up twice in the past few months and closing it now prevents it from being brought back up again. It is a good idea that polls not run longer than 90 days to prevent something like this from occurring. Feel free to open a new poll/thread if you think new interest exists.
