Just out of curiousity, why does the shop say that the hood needs to be replaed? I jsut went through a similar situation with a shop that I brought my car to. The guy started out by telling me he wanted $4000 to do my car. Then after talking to him a bit, explaining the budget situation, I was able to get it down to $1800, but I had to do a lot of the work myself. I guess the point of my story is, you might be able to save the hood you have, with a little work, depending on what's wrong with it? Not sure about th pin on hood either, sorry...

Novakiddo, A friend of mine has a pin hood and it is a pain in the butt to get on and off. I would recomend saving up for the bolt on hood just be sure to get hood springs for a fiberglass hood or else you would have a 500 taco.

There is a place in conneticut, that deal directly with novas, chevelles. They have every part you could imagine. i'm not sure of the name, but the web addy is ss396.com. they are very resonably priced as well. that is where 90% of my 71 nova parts came from. I'm talking from headlight hardware, to body panels etc.

I have a 73 nova. Year one makes the hood for a 73 nova with a cowl induction. I ordered my hood from paddocks. I worked at a Daddys Restoration shop for 5 years on novas and camaros doing metal work and body work. The amount of time and money in labor to have the shop fit a fiberglass hood either pin on or fiberglass hood that you have to buy their springs that you put on your brackets is not worth it. buy a metal hood.

All you have to do with the metal hood is bolt it on fit the gaps to the fender, take care of the dings, unbolt it and shoot it.

I personally think fiberglass is good for drag cars.

Very active today aren't we 73 restorer? Too busy to read the rules on resurrecting old threads? Do it now please, or face a temporary ban.
