electric fans not working
First time posting.
1991 Camry Wagon, 4 cylinder, auto. I'm trying to troubleshoot why my electric fans are not working on my camry S.W. I need to get (if anyone has these) stats so I can test the sensor on the TStat housing. Also, I have checked the circuit breakers on driver and passenger sides that checked out well. I know this doesn't matter, but I replaced the TStat also. I have checked both fans individually and they work. My last suspect is the relay/relays. I believe there are 4? My questions: How do I check to see if the relays are bad? Figures on the t-stat sensor: What are they so I can test? Whats else could I be looking over? |

Re: electric fans not working
There is a link to the repair manuals at the top of the forum.
Look there for your model year and good luck, Sam

Re: electric fans not working
Has anyone had issues with their electric fans that they could share some info about?
I'm still trying to troubleshoot my electric fans not working, and it's somewhat involving. Looking to see if maybe someone has some experience with electric fans that seem to have issues in Camry's with the 4 cylinder..... |

Re: electric fans not working
Resolved the electric fans issue! And I was able to find the bulb that was keeping the "lights" warning on the console...
Thanks to the manual, and the instructions in there, I was able to test the relays and the temp sensor. Turns out that I had/have 2 bad relays: Engine Main, and AC Fan No.2. I went to my local southwestern auto parts and was able to locate the engine main relay ($21.00), but I had issues finding the AC Fan No.2 relay with them. Going to do some searching tomorrow for that relay. Ultimately, it was the "Engine Main" relay that was keeping the fans from working. I was able to know somewhat immediately after plugging the new relay in, I unplugged the temp sensor from the T-Stat housing, put my key in the ignition in the "on" position, and the fans went on immediately. Interesting that the car would still start with that relay being bad, and, without it even being in the fuse/relay box itself! |

Re: electric fans not working
Hey, thanks for posting the fix. Proof manuals can be a big help if you take the time to download and read them. Many don't. Cheers!
