Smile 2000 astro blows air through defrost vents but not front vents.

I have had leaks in the past in the vaccum hose and had it professionally fixed. I would like to do it myself but can not figure out the best way to access the hose and locate the leak? Any help would be great

Welcome to AF.
Your best bet would be to get a good factory service manual or a All Data sub that has all of the vacuum hose routing and stuff in it.

Also a hand held vacuum pump tool helps on finding vacuum leaks.

remove the center consol and dog house. the vac line that you are looking for runs diagonaly from the left front to the right rear of the motor. If you have had it repaired a few times then it should be easily found sence most mechanics use after market vac line that is substancially larger in diameter than factory line.

Re: 2000 astro blows air through defrost vents but not front vents.

the vacuum line on newer Astros ('96 and above) runs right in front of the throttle body- and sources into the intake right behind the compressor- the older Astros sourced from the rear of the engine-- I don't ake the doghouse off to repair these- just the air cleaner assembly- so I just offer my experiences....

Re: 2000 astro blows air through defrost vents but not front vents.

I just done a 99 Astro 4.3 V6 with bad vacuum lines from engine and vacuum tank.
A 00 may be different but.
On it the engine vacuum comes from PCV valve can on left center of engine.
Which I had to pull dog house to find or get to.
The vacuum tank is down on lower right front front fender area.

Check vacuum at the check valve right front by ac/heater housing area.
Good Luck MT
