Engine fan question and a few others...

I wanted to do a separate post so this got looked at. I *really* appreciate the help I have gotten so far.

I have a 2001 Dodge Neon, it has 102,000 something miles on it. The shop said it had an evap leak and in my other post that was discussed. I have a few other issues I would like some advice on... Here they go...

When I turn the car on the dash flashes fuse and it constantly says door open. All doors are closed, we even had to take the light bulb on the interior light out to keep that from being on. We checked the door sensor things and one is out of place, but after awhile the fuse light started flashing, only does it when I strat for a few seconds. Like when you have the door open it beeps to let you know and then if you dont close it it just goes off. The door thing happened months ago the fuse thing more recently. What could that be? Sensor maybe?

Now I noticed when I turn the car on it goes immediately to the hot line, then it takes about 30 plus seconds for the fan to kick in and start cooling it off.. Do I need a new fan you think? Are they hard to replace? I am guessing this is why it runs hotter than usual. Also how terrible is it to drive like this? I cant afford major work, I need to keep my job and without a car that is impossible since I live so far in the boonies..

What do you all think? Any advice is appreciated.

you mean as in your car is overheating if it is do not drive it or else you [u]will[u] warp the head and it will have to be replaced. with the light problem it sounds like you may have a bad dround somewhere. and i dont quiet get what you mean by fuse

Re: Engine fan question and a few others...

Let me see if my car ignorant self can explain in more understandable ways. I suck at this car stuff, sorry.

When I turn the car on, the fan in the engine takes at least 30 plus seconds to turn on itself. In that time the temp goes all the way to the red, as soon as it turns on it cools back down. For some reason I remember the fan going on as soon as I turned the car on before. The car gets 'hotter' now that the weather is so warm but I am not sure that is why or if it is because the car is getting hot in itself. If that even makes any sense at all

The engine light was taken care of sort of. They said evap leak so waiting for the cash to get that looked at..

Now as for the fuse part. When I turn the car on, you know where it says the mileage? It flashes door like when the door isn't closed and then fuse. It makes that ding noise and flashes that. Make sense? I am sure it doesnt because I am having a hard time explaining myself. Then once I start driving it continues to say door like when a door is open. The doors are all closed, it also makes that ding noise when when I stop like warning me a door is open. no door is open it just does that. The fuses all look okay, I am not sure what else it can be.

I hope this makes a little more sense, I am sure it doesnt but I tried.

Thanks!

Re: Engine fan question and a few others...

I had the same problem with the fuse flashing on the dash. All I that was wrong was one of the door sensors had been pushed to far in for it to contact the door when it shut. So I would check those sensors again, cause you can adjust them with a pair of pliers. If that doesn't work you might need a new sensor. Hope this helps
