96 and 98 4.0 trannys the same?

I have a 96 Grand Cherokee with the 4.0 and auto trans 4wd. I recently removed the transmission from a 98 Grand Cherokee 4.0 auto 4wd. Will the 98 swap out into the 96 with no problems? Or my question is basically are they still the same transmissions? You never know what can change from year to year.

I think I just had a list showing they used the same transmissions but I need more input.
