1987 735i Locked Brakes? Still !!!

1987 735i Brakes lock up while driving in rush-hour traffic.Brakes do not lock up in regular traffic. Pedal gets hard and all calipers lock up. I've had my rotors replaced and new brake pads. Mechanic told me it was my right rear caliper, so I replaced it. Still-no-fix.
Tested again. When the brakes locked up, I checked the power streering fuid level.Noticed that the power steering fuid level had risen. Backed up? Help!

Try reading this over, it's the only thing I can think of off the top off my head:

Re: 1987 735i Locked Brakes?

Thanks Lincolnmaster80 for the info. Its not a brake caliper rebuild issue. All four brakes
lock up..I checked links but that didn't help. Still tinkering

Re: 1987 735i Locked Brakes?

sorry I couldn't be of more assistance...

You've probably checked the e-brake system? How's the brake fluid level?

Just thought I'd throw those out there, but you've probably checked those already.

if you haven't already, try going to the Roadfly E23 Board and posting over there...you might find more help over there...I have for my E32...

Good luck.

Re: 1987 735i Locked Brakes?

Question when you do an emergency or panic brake does the pedal feel like you are stepping on a rock, (pedal does not move initially and braking is ineffective). If yes, check the accumulator or bomb, if the seal has gone then the brakes are very touchy (n first push).
