86' Oil pressure Issue

Seems that my oil light keeps cutting on . I am not getting any oil pressure. I leak oil , have to add some hear and there. But it started making a bad knocking noise one day. I added some oil and it went away.

Should you see oil in the valve cover when you take off the cap ? When the car is running .

Do you think the oil pump is bad. But when checking the oil the dipstick has no oil on it at all when the car running . Cut the car off and WOW there was too much oil. Could this be from a Oil Sendin unit. Sorry dont know how to spell it .

Thanks for the help

How much oil are you seeing under the valve cover?
Sounds like the oil isn't returning to the bottom end fast enough.

You really dont see much at all . Nothing like my honda. You look in there when the cap is off and you dont see hardly any oil at all .

What would be the cause of the oil not returning back to the bottom fast enough.
