water pump
I have a 93 dodge dakota V8 5.2L 4speed. I just need to know if it is really hard to change the water pump on it. And if i should change the timing belt while I'm down there?
Thank you |

Re: water pump
About 226,000 miles. And one more thing, a man asked me if my engine was 'bolted or not' and i had like no clue what that means. Do you?

Re: water pump
Your water pump is held on with 9 bolts...very easy to change
1. Take off all water hoses 2. Take off fan assembly 3. Unbolt water pump 4. Clean all the old gasket off the block as best as you can 5. Rebolt the water pump (you can use the blue high temp rtv to hold down the gasket if it slips) I recommend you go ahead and take the entire aluminum accessory cage off and check the little hose from the intake manifold to the water pump (its like 2" long and hidden under that cage, mine after 100k+ miles had gotten soft and had swolen to the point it was about to explode at any time |
