Quote from 'Re: 1994 740i White Smoke' from Roadfly E32 board:
==== With white smoke, it is usually a head or head gasket. No overheating symptoms? Do you smell coolant in the white smoke? White means steam.Blue is oil. Black is unburned fuel. Depending on the temp and dew point, the intitial amount of 'white smoke' will vary, then after a few minutes of warm-up, will go away. Big clouds are not normal in the summer time. ==== http://bimmer.roadfly.com/bmw/forums/e32/857520-1.html

Re: 91 735il white smoke out of exhaust
Many of our cars in this era do tend to blow white smoke out of the tail pipe (especially at start) depending on temperature and humidity. My '88 750 does it all of the time but uses no water and does not overheat.
