Injector #2 Not Working!!!
Hey guys, a while ago i posted that my 240 was running weird. It was bogging and lacked power. So i put some Lucas fuel injector cleaner and it worked for a while. Now the same problem is back.
I gave the 240 a tune up. Nothing changed I took it to my uncles to check it out and we found out that the #2 cylinder wasnt working at all. We did compression test, and compression is fine. So we figured that the #2 injector is faulty. I dont know if its cloggeded up or if its not receiving any current. I tried to take the injector out today to clean it, but i couldnt get the fuel rail/tube off. Then i tried yanking the injector as safe as possible but it wouldnt come out. How do you take the injectors off? I'm gonna take it for a fuel injection cleaning tomorrow. See if that was my problem. Any other tips?

Re: Injector #2 Not Working!!!
remove gas cap
remove fuel pump fuse crank engine untill it dies remove fuel hoses going to fuel rail, label them so they dont get mixed up remove the wires (you have to pull out a little metal clip) and the fuel lines remove the 2 bolts on the fuel rail put new seals on all the new injector and all injectors that were removed put some oil on the seals, then push them straight into the rail, not at an angle, and dont twist assemble everything back together, and turn the key to on a few times, make sure the fuel isnt leaking, then go ahead and start her up |

Re: Injector #2 Not Working!!!
Yep, did all that. But the injector doesnt want to come off. Is there a certain way to take them off? Or is it just really stuck in there?

Re: Injector #2 Not Working!!!
Put a screwdriver tip on the top of the injector and then put your ear up to the handle. You should be able to hear it pulse.
Getting injectors out after a while just takes time and effort. Wedge a flat edge in between the clip and the rail and twist. That usually gets them out.. Swap that injector with another to see if the problem follows the injector.

Re: Injector #2 Not Working!!!
Did you try the old tap it with a screwdriver trick? Although not always what works, it's really simple to do and is easy to try before you spend hours testing new parts.
I've had to do it a few times after the car sat awhile and after I did my swap. Just tap the injector with the butt of a long screwdriver for a few minutes is all it is. |

Re: Injector #2 Not Working!!!
I've heard of tapping it. Injector may be stuck, never reall heard about it though. Keep trying with the flat head. A set of pliers will be tempting, do not use them hehe

Re: Injector #2 Not Working!!!
If the injector wasn't cleaned for awhile, there is a good chance it's just gummed up and stuck. Hence putting cleaner through doesn't solve the problem because there's nothing going through to begin with. The car runs right? So turn it on and let it idle, and just tap it kind of hard with the butt of a screwdriver for like ten minutes or so. If the car doesn't run, then you have to have someone turning it over while you hit the injector(s) or vice versa.

Re: Injector #2 Not Working!!!
just replace it with a new one. i cant believe you couldnt tell your car had a bad fuel injector from the get go. It should shake like damn v8 at idle and be very very sluggish when your not firing on a cylinder. I usually just start it up, start pulling spark plug wires one at a time(from the valve cover....) and see if the car changes idle. If it doesnt, then thats the fuel injector thats bad or spark plug is fouled etc. If you pull one and the car acts like it wants to die (you should be able to tell instantly) then just shove it back on quickly and move to the next.
You dont really have to go through all that to remove a fuel injector. Just be aware your going to get a little squirt of fuel when you rip it out if you dont. So look away(or wear some safety glasses) and close your mouth. if your car hasnt had new fuel injectors ever.....be prepared for the rest of them to go out too. All of mine went out with in a 6 month period one by one(car had 17x,xxx miles though). One on my new one has gone out(same mileage never gets driven though also) and one on my little bro's has gone out too. I would just change them all since you already did a tune up. Then youd have a pretty fresh new setup, depending on what all you did in your tune up.

Re: Injector #2 Not Working!!!
Hey guys finally fixed my car!!!!! I messed up the old injectors though. Got tired and frustrated and decided to yank them out with some pliers. That screw driver wedging really helped out. My car feels so fast now that its running on all 4 cylinders. LOL. Thanks for all your support. Ill post some pictures of the old injectors later.

Re: Injector #2 Not Working!!!
Good shit.
I guess I have the same problem u just had. My #1 cylinder was out, I did a fuel injector cleaning and it got better for a while then back to being out again. Since I've never replaced any of the fuel injectors, I guess its time to go buy a new set since all of them should be going out on me soon.
