squealing brakes

dont know if anyone recalls, but i recently did my brakes, maybe 300 miles ago. They're fantastic exept for that they squeal, but ONLY when im on them lightly. dont do it all the time either.

i did lubricate the noise reduction plates and everything...but i just used a general purpose grease...not specific brake stuff. think thats the problem?

anything else it could be?

Re: squealing brakes

Blink, when are you gonna post pictures of your calipers? And what kind of rotors did you end up getting?

Re: squealing brakes

UNFORTUNATELY this is the only pic ive got. i had some really good ones of them just after paint, sitting on the work bench, but my fiance deleted them to make room for STUPID SHOWER PICTURES!!! Grrr...why do girls always have a skewed perception on what's important?

well, they came out great, i guess youll hafta take my word on it lol.

the rotors are cheap-Os from a horrible awful company called iRotors...dont ever get anything from them.

and if anyone make a wheel-gap comment i'll

lol

yea i cleaned/degreased everything...but these rotors supposedly had a zinc coating or something on them to keep all the non-contact (vents, hub and stuff) surfaces from rusting.

i know i need to drop it, but i dont have cash for lowering springs right now, and the roads are so shitty up here im worried it will break my ass with any stiffer ride than it is. Im also worried it will screw my alignment and ruin the functionality/effectiveness of the ECS. When i get down to TX its on my list of stuff to save for, along with bigger wheels. the 17s just dont cut it. Really wish i had gotten 18s.

oh, btw...

Re: squealing brakes

I had a smilar problem after I changed all my brake components like you did. I think the pads I had put in were metallic, so were too hard. Like you, I tried everything to quiet them. Then, I switched the pads to EBC Green Stuff and all is fine now. They stop pretty good too.

I put on those slotted and drilled rotors too, but wish I hadn't. After a year (about 10,000mi), they started to warp and I can't find anyone in this podunk town that can turn them. The best answer I get from anyone is "replace em'"
