blower motor

hi everyone, i just purchased a 94 lumina. everything works great except the front blower motor. the rear works fine, but the front wont work at all. if i hook 12v directly to the blower it will work. so is there a fuse or relay for this? and where is it located at? thanks

Re: blower motor

There is the low speed relay in the convenience center, under glove box.

you can switch it with the horn relay just beside for a test.

Re: blower motor

THen check the high speed relay: all current to motor passes through this one , energized or not, and this relay and socket are sometimes damaged by heat generated by long runs at high speed.

Re: blower motor

Thank you, LMP. That blower motor resistor location picture is worth gold. Timely, very timely. Hats down, beer mugs rise up!

Re: blower motor

Blower was changed. I changed the motor, the relay, the speed resistor.
Seems that the relay was burned at one leg. I changed the rest anyway, so it would not die on me again. Manual says it is enough to remove the air assembly to take off motor, damn, were they wrong... I had to remove a bit more, such a pain!

My problem was that the blower did not work on highest speed, all other speeds were fine but would start working at all on high. Now it is no problem.

Kind of strange, there was some kind of hesitation when I first tried it, some kind of electrical problem, I could hear the engine even change rhythm. After 10 sec or so the blower came on. Have no freaking idea what was up, maybe new motor was needed a small push?

Re: blower motor

Ok, a problem. As I said, I changed the blower motor, the resistor pack on the back of firewall and the relay, all as a freaking maintenance thing. Imagine my surprise when high speed quit working in 48 hours.

WTF do I do now? Sorry for strong words but I am beat, I had it in my grasp and it is gone! High speed doesn't work again after $70 worth of parts and about 5 hours of my time after a 10 hour shift.
