2000 Lincoln LS V6 won't stop brakes?

I bought a 2000 Lincoln LS with a v6. It was fine the first day. The next day like it wouldn't stop. Any known problems with brake systems on this car? please help if you can. Thank you, Tim

Welcome to the forum!

What do you mean the car, like, wouldn't stop? You pressed on the brake pedal and there was absolutely no difference in speed? Were there any indicators lit on the instrument cluster? Did you check the fluid level in the master cylinder?

I meant to say it was like it would almost not stop. nothing on cluster and fluid was full. Pads are good and rotors as well. Please help, Tim

Re: 2000 Lincoln LS V6 won't stop brakes?

Any grinding noise or vibration like the ABS pump is kicking in? Does the engine speed seem normal and the engine runs smoothly?

If the engine runs smoothly and seems to have good idle speed, the issue is probably not due to a misfire and/or low vacuum. However, there is a check valve for the vacuum brake booster that I suppose could be malfunctioning and causing a loss of vacuum to the booster.

I have not read about brake issues being common on any of the LS model years, so this may require some diagnosis on your end.
