Bluetooth Headsets

so i did a search and didn't find any threads about bluetooth headsets, i figured i'd go ahead and ask.

Does anyone out there own one? I realize they probably make a lot of people mad, annoying the shit out of people. I know i personally hate it when i see someone talking to themselves, i think "what a quack." That's beside the point.

Like many other cities, mine recently passes a law that requires the use of a hands free unit while driving. While i have yet to be pulled over for using my cell phone i don't really wanna get pulled over and pay the $200 fine. I'd rather pay the 70 upfront and avoid the hassle of being pulled over.

my question(s) is(are) this(these)
-who all out there has one and what kind do you have?
-what kind of phone do you have?
-does brand names work better? (i.e. I have a LG phone, should i look more towards an LG headset?)
-any suggestions on headset models? (i found a samsung that i really like)
-pros & cons of the headset overall

i realize there are gonna be some people that say, "if you haven't been caught yet, why waste the money and get one" I'm planning on doing a lot of road tripping this summer and I think it would be good to have one. Plus i have sort of wanted one for a while now, just cause i'm lazy and don't like holding the phone to my head sometimes

thanks for the input

Re: Bluetooth Headsets

I have a Motorola h700 headset - it works well with my LG 8300. I don't think you have to match brands for it to work - I don't imagine the sound quality could be any better even if I bought a LG headset.

The only complaint I have is the sound quality gets worse when I'm driving, which sucks because that's the reason most people buy these things. It's still very usable in my car, I can hear the other person just fine...but they always say they hear some noise in the background when I use the bluetooth while driving. It works great for everything else - sitting around the house or even when I'm out mountain-biking - I can talk and ride no problem and it sounds great.

I would suggest buying a headset with a boom mic - the kind that turn on when you extend the boom and turn off when you close it. It prevents accidentally pressing the "call" button when you have the headset in your pocket.

BTW I bought my first h700 headset at the Verizon store for $70. I accidently broke it so I went online and found the exact same headset at Amazon.com for $30. I ordered it and the accidently sent me two of them for the cost of one.

Re: Bluetooth Headsets

Work gave me one to use in the car. Sony Ericcson headset teamed with a K750i, it works very well.

The sound quality is good, the battery life is usable but could last a bit longer. About the only caveat is it doesn't connect immediately first time about once every twenty times I turn it on.

Re: Bluetooth Headsets

Just please wear it ONLY in the car. I want to punch everyone I see walking around the club with them on.

Why why why do people feel this is fashionable?

Re: Bluetooth Headsets

i have a motorola H500. sounds is pretty good though it doesn't fit as snugly on my ear as i'd like. my phone's a Lg vx9900(EnV). i hardlly ever use the headset cuz i feel like a star trek dork with it on, like texas said it's definitely not a fashionable look. i use it only if i'm in the car or i'm doing something where both my hands are occupied and i need to use the phone

Re: Bluetooth Headsets

i ordered a WEP200 this past weekend. it will remain in my car when i'm not using it. I too, hate people that think it actually looks cool to wear it out and about. Plus, if you use it in public, you just look crazy talking to yourself.

Re: Bluetooth Headsets

I like the Jawbone Bluetooth headset. It’s got noise cancellation which rocks! No more hearing “what did you say” over & over again. Here’s a youtube video that shows it in action. It's the best thing out there right now. The only bad thing about it is the price.

That is the BEST one out there, small enough not too make you look like a star-trek geek and clear enough to actually use effectively. I've had mine for 5 months, I love it.
