Tire pressure

Hi,
I was looking at the tire pressure ratings on my '88 R10 suburban (235 75 15's) and noticed the prior owner had some mismatches on the tires. 3 of the 4 recommend 50 PSI while number 4 is 41 PSI. They all have similar tread and load ranges. Load range C on all, 900 KG on the 50PSI's and 990 KG on the 41 PSI. Should I put #4 up front since it is 2WD? Should I be actively looking for a replacement? I guess it would be important to note that this rig is only used for occasional towing of a 4,500 lb travel trailer.

Thanks in advance,
Jon

Re: Tire pressure

The psi ratings on the tires only give you the pressure to set the tires at to be able to carry their max weight. You should look at the sticker on the drivers door or door post to see the manufacture recomended tire pressure. The number on the tire is seldom correct.

Re: Tire pressure

Thanks for the good point. I went to confirm the tire pressure on my '88 R10 silverado 2wd 350 auto TBI 3:73's w/235 75 15s (while I'm at it 2 tone exterier and bench seats for as much good as that does) and the sticker is too far worn away to see the pressure ratings. Could someone tell me what their similar vehicle states? A pict E-mailed would be great for future reference.

Thanks in advance,
