Horsepower These Days
When i first started modding my car i was thinking ya i would be happy with a 300-350 hp KA-T, seemed like resonable horsepower for street and pretty respectable overall. But as i keep looking and the car industry gets more advanced, i see that 300hp now a days is like nothing. The new cadillac cts-v is looking to put down 600, while other cars like the gto, 350, evo, sti, are all breaking and going past the 300 mark.
To me its just amazing how quickly things advance. Though i would like to feel 600 hp. At the same time, i have yet to drive a car that puts a smile on my face like my 240, driven a boxter, sti, evo, 350, and a couple more, all feel like nice cars, but nothing compares for some reason. Just would like to get other peoples insight and thoughts. Thanks for reading. |

Re: Horsepower These Days
Ok the CTS-V traps like 109mph stock from road and track. In all reality, you can expect around 105mph with a normal person driving it on the street. It did a 13.4, which in all reality means 13.9, normal person with stock tires. You'll be doing that with 250whp. With 350whp, expect to do 115mph, which will pretty much beat anything stock, with the exception of the C6 Z06, and possibly the C5 Z06, but you'll make him think twice about your car and you'll decide to get race fuel and run more boost.
Don't worry about horsepower numbers. When you want to know how fast a car is, ask what it traps.

Re: Horsepower These Days
traps arent always perfect tho, i've seen many cars get a higher trap speed than the other car, but still be slower in quater. in fact on one of the Pinks all out there is a guy who does that.
a fast car is watever u feel is fast. my stealth has 300hp, it's fast in comparison to my neon, but slow in comparison to say a ferrari 430, there's different levels of fast.

Re: Horsepower These Days
When a car has a lower ET, that does not mean its faster, that means it is quicker. Nobody has ever run a perfect ET, as no setup or track is the same or perfect. ET is a comparison for similar cars with the same limitations for a driving comparison. Trap speed is what determines which car is faster. Trap speed wins races on the street and aids in winning races at the track. ET is not reproducable on the street in all instances. Available traction and surface conditions can affect it.
If you want good ET's, go buy a set of MT ET streets, a good LSD, and a heavy clutch. Making power, on the other hand, isn't so easy. And besides, there is nothing better than the beauty of the top end.
