Im New To Supras, I Have A Boost ?

Hey, everyone. im new to the supra game. Always loved supras and i finally got one for a decent price i think. I recently bought a 1993 Non-turbo automatic, i paid $11,700. It has 175,000 miles. Is that good? Well anyway. i want to leave it auto. im doing a swap for a lower mileage engine (the same engine) then im throwing on a single turbo. This will be a daily driver i was wondering how much boost can a auto tranny take? and how much boost can i run on stock internals? Im not looking for crazy horsepower just a modest 350 or so.

If you are going to the trouble of changing out the motor swap for the turbo engine.

Don't bother with the non turbo engine. When you change out the motor, drop in a factory turbo engine.

Re: Im New To Supras, I Have A Boost ?

Im not sure of engine codes but the only other turbo motor was the twin turbo for MKIV. from what i have heard that would be more expensive and the electronic issue is a pain. so besides the whole motor thing can you answer any of the other questions? thanks.

The process of swapping in a fresh non turbo (2JZGE) engine and adding a turbo to it is far more expensive and involved than swapping in the factory turbo motor (2JZGTE).

Re: Im New To Supras, I Have A Boost ?

from looking around a twin turbo engine goes for aobut $2,500 alone and plus installation would probably run this thing to close to $5,000. the way im doing this is going to cost about $4,000 and i will have more power than the twin turbo engine. Well thats pretty much how it was explained to me.

Re: Im New To Supras, I Have A Boost ?

No, not really, the turbo kit alone will run over $4000. You can't just toss a turbo on it and go. You will have to change out the injectors, fuel pump, install a piggy back ECU to handle fuel duties, you will need to completly rework the intake system, etc. All that to end up just over the stock power level of the factory turbo system with no room to grow. Put the turbo motor in and do it right.

Re: Im New To Supras, I Have A Boost ?

u want a turbo, sell ur ride and buy a turbo. Boosting is a disease. The more you have, the more you want. Its always better with a good platform. Or i agree swap the turbo motor. Its the best way.
