Question Replacing fuel pump

According to step 12 of the Ford service manual we're going to need a special tool to remove our fuel pump (module retaining ring). Does anyone know what other tool we can substitute for this tool?

Re: Replacing fuel pump

A hammer and a screwdriver

This tool is almost required if it is a newer model like 2005-2007 I think. It is simply a claw with 3 tangs on it to fit the ring and it will take a 1/2" breaker bar and a cheater pipe to "Pop" the ring. The force required to unlock or lock the ring is unbelievable.

Question Re: Replacing fuel pump

A hammer and a screwdriver? Umm... wouldn't that cause a spark?
