D16Y7/8 are 6th Gen. codes. The SOHC VTEC 5th Gen. should say "D16Z6" and the others are D15-whatever.

It does say D16Z6, but the question is that are the vtec's on the SOHC reaaaallllyy weaaakkk or it could be mine is not working, but if it wasn't working shouldn't it give me an check engine (light) code..

VTEC

If you VTEC was not engaging you would notice at around 5500 rpm the motor would fall flat on its face you would notice a big drop in power.

How many miles do you have on that motor you may need your valves adjusted.:sun:

It's a little round brass colored thing right next to the distributor.
