coolant sensor location

Does anybody know the location of the coolant sensors on a 1996 4L 6cyl jeep grand cherokee. I understand there are two and I found the one in the thermostat housing but can't find the other one.

Re: coolant sensor location

It'll be allllllll the way to the back, on the driver's side. One up front is for the PCM, one in back is for your guage or idjit light.

Re: coolant sensor location

The one up front on your thermostat housing is for the computer.

After 95 they moved the gauge temp sensor from the rear of the cylinder head to the side of the block under the intake/exhaust. So look there on your 96.

If your refering to the VIC complaining about a coolant sensor that would be the coolant level sensor in your overflow tank.
