Re: Loose Shifter On A 2000 Cvpi

you either have worn out bushings in the steering coloum or it is very likely the 2 or 3 screws that arm on have loosened up both are easy fixes

Re: Loose Shifter On A 2000 Cvpi

you dont have to pull the whole dah apart there are a couple of ways to change the bushings1 unhook the battery and let it sit for a while then remove knee bolster and unhook everything that plugs into the coloum remember to unhook the trans indicator so you dont break it and pop the shift cable off then pull the whole coloum out and put it on the bench or floor. remove the shift interlock solonoid and caps off the shift tube. remove then install new bushings. I usually put a little white grease on and in them. reinstall everything. or you may get lucky to just drop the coloum down enough to get caps off and install new bushings. it sounds a lot harder than it really is.
