Talking Update!!

I had a guy we know who also works for a shop take my car to work with him the other day, when he first drove it around he was confused on what is might be, so he took to a second day and had some other guys look at it, they thought, like me it was the tranny, however, when they took the pan/lid (Not sure which one) off there wasn’t any iron or metallic residue so, the tranny is fine!! And it's also a newer tranny! Anyway, he took my car apart and cleaned the valves up real good, flushed the tranny fluid and gave it a new filter, and it's running great again!! YAY!! However it still has some problems, sometimes, when you get to get on the interstate you can get up to about 65 but you have no power to go any faster. You pull off to the side of the road, and turn the car off.... sit... Turn it back on, and bam, you have power again. Now this MAY be my leaking capacitor. It also still bang shifts sometimes. Don't know if the AC works now or not...

Anyways, he said that there as been a TON of stuff put on this car and they did a rather careless job to take it off when they went to sell it, it has a OLD remote start and also has downshift switches. I've afraid this car has been abused... *Sigh*

Oh, anyone know why my tour and spot light blink??

(One more question, is it normal for ONE back side panel, the spoiler and the bumper to fade more then the rest of the car?? Also on that same side one of the triangles in the middle of both windows is broken and has some sort of black tape on it, you can see it’s broken though. Accident not reported?)

Heh, thanks for the read. ^^

could be a few things. easiest to check;

do you have aftermarket struts?

are all the connectors under the covers on top of the strut towers connected and not damaged?

is the ECS computer (in the hatch on the passenger's side IIRC) plugged in?

Fuse?

bad ECS computer?

It only blinks SOMETIMES so I don't think it's a fuse... I could be the computer, I havn't taken that one out yet...

Conectors: As far as I know are not damaged.

Struts: Not that I know of, I just had two or three replaced by Misubishi so I don't think that's the problem... Lol

Re: Help!!!

Mine has been doing that more and more recently as well. Almost as often as it dumps another tranny. I think after age the computer does it more and more often.

Re: Help!!!

If it's intermittent, I'd think bad wiring. Check the wires on teh top of your struts.

Your 1996 Mitsubishi 3000GT VR-4 is the 92nd out of the 315 that were made that year. Only 21 of which are exactly identical.

Hmm... Yeah, that would make sense, the last owner really didn't know what he was doing when it came to wireing somthing... I've recently found out that this car as had ALOT done to it in the years... It still has the down shift switches under the dash(I don't think they work anymore)...And the exhaust has been redone under the car.

yea, i know a couple of local 3/Ser's who practically destroy 3/S's. They think they know how to work on them when they actually mess things up. I try to get the word out to the 3/S owners i meet locally and tell them to not let these people work on their cars. Poor cars.

Re: Help!!!

We Just found out (most likely) why my power has been so bad sometimes we I go to get on the interstate, My new mehanic said it's the TPS (Throttle Position Sensor) So I'm ordering one OEM online.

But Would this have anything to do with why my car as been jumping? I thought the throttle body delt with Ignition timing, fuel, air and stuff like that. Not anything to do with shifting. (It downshifts, then shifts back up REALLY hard, really fast. [feels like you going to be thrown though the windshield.])

He also was looking though my papers from misubish, to see what they have done to the car, and they charged me 4 hours of labor and did nothing from what he and another mehanic could see, what they were soposed to have worked on was never opened. Along with charging me $60.00 for a tranny flush, no more then 100 miles ago from the time he did one and he said it was really dirty and hadn't been flushed. Ofcorse Misubishi say other wise, I should have know better when I asked them to check the capacitors in my ECU and they said the only capacitors in the car when in the radio. Even I know that's not true, I just said, fine. Then took it out myself later to find one was leaking. He says "Oh my guy are professionals" well the definition of professional is simply geting paid for what you do.

God, I make the worst choices.

If you ECS light start flashing again try the procedure outlined in the pdf link I have included.

http://turbostealth.home.att.net/host/ecs_codes.pdf

You have a 1G so you only need an analogue voltmeter to do the test. Using a digital voltmeter makes it very difficult to pull the codes.
Hope this helps.
