Re: thumping in driver side wheel
Did you guys ever think about the hub bearing. You said it doesnt make it at stand still just when you drive and when it gets to about 30MPH or more its louder i would say the bearing. The bearing, axle and wheel are the only things turing in the front area. Of course other things are turning other places but just to pin point the location to being the front I would look into the hub bearing.

Re: thumping in driver side wheel
Mine's fixed - sort of,
The Xploder had a pretty healthy pull to the right, so after measuring the tread thickness, I found the tires worn more on the inside edge (toe in) ... so's I tweaked the tire rod end, goes straighter now. The transmission, 4WD and traction control stuff was making all kinds of racket switching in and out when I had it up on Jack-Stands ... the anti- lock brakes were really upset too, but, it didn't make the sound I was troubleshooting so's I rotated the tires to the back ... noise gone! Noticed some pretty bad cupping on the Left Front inside edge ... it this an alignment issue or shocks ... or ... other wear items? |

Re: thumping in driver side wheel
The cupping could be do to any of the above, alignment, shocks, or loose suspension component. Some tires seem to be overly sensitive to slightly out alignments as well.
I'd suggest you have the front suspension inspected and aligned. Also make sure your tire inflation is appropriate. -Rod |
