Power issues...

Ok, I have a lawn care business. I pull a 6x12 trailer with a riding mower on it. No problem for my ford mini van. I don't know if I have a 305 or a 350, but it sure lacks power. It is a 1988 2wd, engine was replaced. This past weekend it ran like crap, thought the cadilac converter was bad. Took it off and put on a muffler in its place (I have duel exhause all the way back, had no mufflers before). Found out that one of the plug wires was burnt right through. Anyway, it still does not have the power it should. I replaced plugs, what do I do next???

At least you could drive it to the wreckers instead of having to get it towed .

Re: Power issues...

Anyone with some education care to answer my question? I am looking for some help, not jokes. Hell, with a 350 I can't even squack the tires from a dead stop with my 2wd, st. cab long box.

Re: Power issues...

oh yeah sorry.

check the fuel. start with the filter.
are there any other symptoms?
the wire probably burned through from touching the exhaust manifold.
that happened to me and then i got looms.

anyway check for spark and fuel. those are the 2 easiest things that can rob you of power.

oh also maybe(?) take it to whoever rebuilt it.
the timing may be off, that's another #1 reason of no power.
