Special battery cables?

I have a 97 Explorer coming in to my little shop on Monday and the guy wants the positive cable replaced. I tried looking one up and they are either not available or there is a note saying something about special harness is required. Whats the deal here? Is it some goofy set-up?

Re: Special battery cables?

On my 2000 Mountaineer V8, the positive cable has two rather large (4 ga?) cables coming off it. One goes across the front of the engine to the alternator. The other joins a cable harness and I presume goes to the starter. Somewhere the fuse panel needs to be tied in as well.

Since it's Monday though, you probably already figured out what you need to know.

Re: Special battery cables?

I was misinformed. He needed the negative cable replaced. Still a PITA but I made a standard cable work.
