1972 Buick ignition switch
I have a 72 Riviara that has been stored for the last 8 years. This year I decided to get it out and the key will not turn the ignition, it will go back to the accessory postion but not forward to onlock the wheel or turn over the car. I tried shooting a little lube and then compressed air into the key hole to no avail. Any sugestions?

Re: 1972 rivi

Welcome to AF. As an aside I am in the middle of finishing a very clean 64 Riv. Disconnect the rod from the ign switch at the bottom of the steering column and see if the switch moves, you can temporarily start the car like this also. If it still will not move you will be replacing the key cylinder, if it now moves the ign switch or linkage is at fault.
