Sway Bar Improvments
I have a 2002 GT and I am going to get lowering springs and was wondering wile i was down there i would install a new sway bar also. Is the sway bar really going to make much of a difference in the handleing or is it not worth it?

Re: Sway Bar Improvments
I am not an expert with that model. It normally a good thing, but its not always the case. There is a science to suspension, and it changes from car to car. If no one on here can help, go to corner carvers, of a modual forum that road races.

Re: Sway Bar Improvments
Also with the lowering springs, do they make the front wheels angle inward out of alignment, and if that is the case, is that what a caster/camber plate is for, to make them able to be aligned again? and is the c/c plate a must or just a good idea?

Re: Sway Bar Improvments
Caster camber plates where a must once I converted to coil-overs on the front of my car. That would be another good question for a corner carver forum.

Re: Sway Bar Improvments
effective spring rate = sring rate + swaybar spring rate. watch out for bump steer when lowering, this can be rectified by repositioning your steering rack with offset bushings.

Re: Sway Bar Improvments
der, forgot to mention this fudemental bit about sway bars: they actualy reduce traction on the end that they are placed, ie: front sway bars reduce front end tractoin leading to understeer, and rear swaybars reduce rear traction leading to oversteer. it reduces to a matter of what tendancys your car is exibiting and how you want to correct it. basically your selected spring rates (front and rear) should get really close to neutral steer, and the sway bars are the fine tuning.
hope this helps |
