Re: Any interesting promos concerning gas prices in your area?

I didn't notice if it asked for debit or credit prior to swiping or pay inside or out. I probably should have noticed. I was asked if I wanted a car wash and if I wanted a receipt...

Looking further into a promotion like that, say you fill up with 20 gallons of gas. Your savings would be $2.00. How much did you have to spend on the car wash to get the $2.00 savings? (in my area a basic car wash usually starts at $5 or $6.00.) Don't get me wrong, it's a good way to save a little on your gas purchase if you need a wash, but that promo is one that a lot of stations employ to add to their bottom line since many people are too much in a hurry and don't do the math. I was getting gas a couple of months ago when I overheard the girl in the next pump exclaim to another girl in the car," Hey, I know we just washed the car yesterday, but if I wash it here today, I can save ten cents a gallon on my gas! Cool, let's do it!" She had a small car that probably took maybe 10 or 12 gallons to fill, if empty, so she really spent more than she needed to. I guess the gas stations love people like her .

Not too many gimmicks we have the car wash thing and the grocery store offers discounted gas on some days. However our Governor is actually trying to fight the gas prices, pretty funny they think thats the states biggest issue.

I bow to your superior knowledge of the gas law. Isn't there some additional calculation due to moisture, etc that can be figured in?

Yes, all gases have a proportionate heat/pressure change. i think it's the case that nitrogen's pressure increase in tiny throughout the temperature range that tyres will experience. so the nitrogen will expand with a raise in tyre temperature, but that pressure change will be much less than that suffered by air.
