Question Clicking coming from rear driver side tire

I have a 2002 AWD Mercury Mountanieer 57,000 miles. I' ve noticed a clicking noise comming out of the rear tire (Drivers side) only when I'm slowing down. After I speed up, it goes away. My Brakes where replaced last year. Anybody hear such a thing??

Any suggestions would greatly be appreciated!!

Ron

Re: Clicking coming from rear driver side tire

It could be the parking brake shoes came unbonded. They are actual brake shoes located inside the rotor seperate from the disc brake pads.

Or maybe a wheel bearing? Does it make a "humming" or "scraping" noise on the highway?

Johnny,

Thanks for the reply. No I don't think it the wheel bearing. No noise over 15 MPH. This parking brake shoe sounds more like the problem. Is this an easy fix or should I leave it to a Pro? I've changed my own pads have just enough experience to make myself dangerous.

Thanks for your input!

Ron
