Oil on Spark Plugs
My son and I were swapping out the spark plugs on his '94 626, 2.5L 6 cylinder today. We haven't done this since we got the car last year. The car sat for a long time outside at the previous owner's, only has 50K on it.
We pulled one of the plugs out and it brought with it what looked like a lot of oil. Some of the other plugs were a little wet too, but not like this one. All the plugs appeared "burned" around the white part of the plug. I asked him if he'd been seeing any smoke come out of his exhaust and he said No, but when we fired it back up we had it smoking pretty good. I had him drive it around a while and it seems ok now, just wondering if the old plugs had ever been changed and if we fouled up the new ones already. What's with all the oil we pulled out of the one cylinder? Any comments on this would be appreciated, thank you. |

Re: Oil on Spark Plugs
try a compression test. to see if the rings and or valves are holding.

Re: Oil on Spark Plugs
A couple plugs were pretty stubborn to come out too, one really was locked in there. Also just had a distributor go out on this car and replaced, I wonder if that had anything to do with buildup under the plug, might not have been firing for a while? Seems to be running pretty good at this point.
