A little clunk
About a week after I bought my 99' CGC Limited I noticed when I would come to a complete stop I would feel and hear a little clunk noise, sometines right when I stop, sometimes when I just hit the gas to start moving again and sometimes when I am completely stopped with the brakes on, I will hear and feel it a little, it kind of feels like a car behind me just gave me a little bump. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Re: A little clunk
Take the rear drive shaft out and put some grease on the splines of the t case output shaft. There is actually a bulletin to replace the rear drive shaft. The new one has a nickel plated slip yoke, but some grease on the splines should take care of it.

Re: A little clunk
It's not normal wear and tear. I can almost guarantee the issue ddddde is having is what xj31 stated - the slip yoke on the rear shaft is binding.
His description of the symptoms is perfect. There is a updated plated drive shaft, but greasing the splines works just as well. |
